Gwin, Dobson & Foreman, Inc. was the prime professional for the new 1,500 square foot Emergency Communications Center incorporated into the recently completed Bedford County office building and courthouse addition. The new 911 Center enables dispatchers and emergency staff to operate efficiently in a safe and secure environment.
Major features of the project include:
- State-of-the-art dispatcher console furnishings and communications equipment
- Individual offices for administrative staff
- Implementation of equipment for communication with the Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service
- Independent heating, cooling, security systems, fire suppression, and emergency power permitting 24-hour, 7 days per week uninterrupted operation
- Modifications to multiple building areas for standby power equipment, electrical and communications equipment and the associated connections between those areas, while maintaining normal building operations (911 equipment by others)
GD&F provided all design and programmatic layouts and complete bid and construction phase services, shop drawing review, and contractor coordination. GD&F achieved a seamless operating transition by careful coordination of communication and equipment suppliers and county emergency staff.
