Client: Borough of Huntingdon
Year Completed: 2002
Project Cost: $1,000,000
In association with Stephen T. Parks & Associates, Landscape Architects, Gwin, Dobson & Foreman, Inc. designed a new outdoor swimming pool complex for the greater Huntingdon region. The project scope was defined by an extensive feasibility study by Parks and GD&F. The report recommended the design of a new 5,600 square foot swimming pool and a 1,850 square foot bathhouse.
The project involved the following components:
- Swimming pool with 8 racing lanes, a 12 foot deep diving area, and an adjacent wading pool area with a zero-entrance ramp for wheelchair accessibility.
- Concrete deck with a large lawn summing area that surrounds the pool.
- Bathhouse with a combination of split-faced and fluted architectural concrete block exterior and aluminum framed glass entrance doors. A pre-engineered gabled roof system (with asphalt shingles) tops the building.
- Site/civil design elements accommodate an existing park complex, state highway, commercial business, water treatment plant and Standing Stone Creek flood plain.
GD&F’s design services included all civil/site, architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical and swimming pool equipment systems. GD&F also did project management work, including project permits and four project financing sources. The project was successfully completed on time and on budget.
