Client: James E. VanZandt VA Medical Center
Year Completed: 1999
Project Cost: $521,000
GD&F designed and provided construction technical support for the VAMC’s corrections to several types of safety deficiencies, as well as the expansion of an existing daycare facility.
Major elements of the projects were as follows:
- Correction of live safety deficiencies throughout the hospital, including:
- Penetrations of, and extensions to, the existing fire and smoke walls
- Sprinkler piping and sprinkler head location revisions
- Additional automatic door closures
This project also included:
- Incorporating half of an existing residential duplex into the expansion of the existing daycare facility
- The installation of x-ray equipment in the completely renovated space
The daycare project design was performed utilizing AutoCAD 3D design capabilities. This enabled both the VA and daycare staff to experience a complete “walk-through” of the facility during each design submission review.
