Gwin, Dobson & Foreman designed modifications to the SCI-Rockview boiler plant. The project consisted of upgrades to three (3) coal fired Keeler-type CP boilers. It also included modifications to the combustion chamber to reduce particulate emissions by introducing a gas-over fire burner system over the stoker grates.
The project also included the following:
- New gas co-fire burners to three (3) existing coal-fired boilers.
- Boiler casing repairs.
- Demolition and replacement of the weigh larry wheels and track system.
- Relining and rehabilitation of the coal bunker.
- New boiler controls system.
- Re-tubing of boiler No. 3 and a partial re-tubing of Boiler No. 1.
- Demolition and relocation of new motor control center.
- Various power and lighting upgrades.
