Gwin, Dobson & Foreman was selected to design additions to the SCI-Smithfield central energy plant near Huntingdon, PA. The facility also serves the energy needs of the adjacent SCI-Huntingdon.
Major features of the project included:
- 3,200 square foot, 30′ high, pre-engineered steel building addition to the existing boiler plant including site, utility, mechanical, plumbing and electrical work.
- Master plant control system for three (3) 700 hp oil-fired boilers including all interface control.
- Equipment pads and site amenities to accommodate a new ash silo and fuel oil storage tanks.
- Replacement of boiler mechanical systems, including valves, pressure reducing equipment and resized feedwater lines for increased steam pressure.
- HVAC improvements to address existing boiler house heat rejection problems.
- Design of deaerator tank, surge/expansion tank and chemical treatment/condensate polisher.
- 200 square foot boiler control room.
- Boiler testing and commissioning services.
