Glen Campbell North, Abandoned Mine Reclamation Project

Client: PADEP – Bureau of Abandoned Mine Reclamation

Year Completed: 2005

Project Cost: $300,000

Gwin, Dobson & Foreman, Inc. designed the 20 acre land reclamation project for an abandoned strip mine, Glen Campbell North, in Indiana County. GD&F developed a reclamation plan to eliminate dangerous highwall conditions and to promote positive site drainage and erosion control.

The elements of the project included a site grading, erosion and sedimentation control, wildlife habitat and final ground cover plans.

The project eliminated dangerous impoundments and severe erosion, provided positive drainage and established adequate vegetative cover.

The project was designed for the Ebensburg Office of the PADEP Bureau of Abandoned Mine Reclamation and was successfully completed on time and within budget.
