Fire Tower Water System Improvements
Client: Clearfield Municipal Authority
Year Completed: 2005
Project Cost: $1,000,000
The Fire Tower Water Association experienced chronic leakage from an aged and deficient distribution system. The water supplier, Clearfield Municipal Authority, authorized Gwin, Dobson & Foreman, Inc. to design an affordable water system improvement project to address the problem.
Funded through a PennVEST grant/loan package, GD&F engineered the following water supply and distribution components:
- Water distribution system consisting of 6,500 LF of 6"-8" waterline, 53 service connections and fire hydrants
- 100,000 gallon capacity, bolted stainless steel, ground-level water storage tank which provides fire protection for the Fire Tower service area
- Telemetry system to control pump operation and monitor system consumption/tank level
- High pressure, duplex water booster pumping station (vertical multi-stage, 150 gpm @ 240 feet) at the existing Hillsdale water storage tank including control building, emergency generator connection and site work
GD&F also furnished construction administration and inspection services, in addition to administering the PennVEST grant/loan. The project was completed on time and under budget.
