GD&F engineers have experience in all geotechnical assessment techniques and applications.

For subsurface investigations, they use time-tested geological and soil engineering methods including certified test boring inspections, geological mapping, structural geology, mining, stratigraphy and related geological and soils reconnaissance.

Foundations

GD&F has experience in all foundation design techniques and applications. We have designed foundations for bridges, industrial plant buildings, equipment and processes and multi-purpose buildings.

Our specialized design experience includes drilled piers and caissons, driven steel piles, friction piles, micro-piles, rock and ground anchor systems, piers, abutments, spread and column footings and raft and mat foundations.

Earth Structures

Geotechnical engineering has taken on increased significance with landslide, ground subsidence, structure settlement, ground water intrusion and foundation stability problems as all too common occurrences.

Engineering design capabilities include slope stability, excavation and groundwater control, settlement analysis and design, retaining walls, anchored bulkheads, sheet piling and tieback systems.

Mine Reclamation

GD&F is a leader in the field of mine reclamation and mine drainage abatement. We have done pioneering work in deep mine sealing and acid mine water treatment.

Completed projects include constructed wetlands, physical-chemical treatment facilities, deep mine sealing (remote and in-situ), surface mine reclamation, mine subsidence and control, slurry wall and clay outcrop barriers, refuse pile stability design and land reclamation/re-vegetation.
