The DEP Bureau of Abandoned Mine Reclamation found private water supplies near Clearfield degraded by past coal mining activities. DEP, in a joint effort with the Clearfield Municipal Authority, extended a public water supply to 70 residences of the Baney Settlement and Goshen Church area. Gwin, Dobson & Foreman, Inc. provided the following engineering consultation and design services for the project:
- 26,500 lineal feet of 8″ waterlines, fire hydrants, gate valves, blow-off valves, air release valves and all required appurtenances. (DEP designed in consultation with GD&F and Clearfield Municipal Authority)
- 150,000 gallon capacity, bolted stainless steel water storage tank which provides water service and fire protection for both the project area and existing Mt. Joy and Goshen Township water service areas. (GD&F designed)
- Design of pressure reducing vault, including dual pressure reducing valves, mechanical piping and valves
