Client: PA Department of Corrections
Year Completed: 2011
Project Cost: $3,500,000
The PA Department of General Services selected Gwin, Dobson & Foreman to engineer the replacement of the Dallas State Correctional Institution water distribution system. The existing water system was subject to chronic leakage and inadequate hydraulic capacity.
The project involved the following major work elements:
- Underground installation of 15,000 ft. of 4-8 inch PVC and ductile iron pipe, 250 fittings, 12 fire hydrants, 135 gate valves and system interconnections.
- Tunnel installation included 2,000 ft. of 4-8 inch ductile iron, restrained joint pipe, 40 gate valves, 360 pipe hangers and supports, 175 fittings, 250 grooved-end couplings, pipe insulation, asbestos removal and system interconnections.
GD&F is currently designing a Phase II project that involves supplying additional groundwater capacity, repainting the existing water storage standpipe and upgrading and expanding the water treatment facility.
